Oxidising flux - 50 g (Nitrates)

FLUXES are substances that facilitate the melting of gold and silver. They have a positive effect on the alloy's quality and increase the purity of precious metals.

When melting down precious metal scrap and its waste: various grades of gold and silver, it should be taken into account that they contain various impurities, such as zinc, tin, lead, mineral parts and others. The function of fluxes is to bind the above impurities into low-melting oxides and other compounds that float on the surface of the liquid alloy in the form of a slime that can be easily separated from the rest of the alloy.

Fluxes can have an  oxidising  or a reducing effect

on the molten material. Oxidising fluxes are nitrates, which are primarily used to bind base metals.

Application: Add the appropriate amount of flux to the molten alloy, stir well and separate the precious metal alloy from the resulting slag. It is more efficient to melt the alloy several times with smaller amounts of flux than to melt it once with more nitrate or carbonate. It is also recommended to melt the alloy once with an oxidising flux and once with a reducing flux. 25 g of oxidising flux or 30 g of reducing flux should be used for 100 g of alloy.

The purchase costs and effort incurred are minimal in relation to the positive final effect of the fluxes.
